023: Quit Google

October 6, 2020

Tim is joined by Dr. Pete Rorabaugh, Assistant Professor of English at Kennesaw State University, to talk about how one begins to extract themselves from using Google services. Prompted in part by a reading of Edward Snowden’s memoir Permanent Record, Rorabaugh articulates the reasons it’s important to think critically about the services we use and how they might be used against us. They discuss alternative services and software that might accomplish similar goals and how one might methodically go about owning their data in more detail.
